About this pattern
This baby hat builds in three clear stages: a ribbed brim worked over four rounds, a textured body that alternates puff stitch and double crochet rounds until the chosen size's round count is reached, and a crown shaped with three decrease rounds. - Mixing up post stitch direction Work front post double crochet in front of the post and back post double crochet behind it, every round, so the ribs stay lined up vertically.
- Uneven puff stitch loops Pull each loop of the puff stitch up to the same height before the final yarn over, so the bobbles sit even around the body.
- Losing count on decrease rounds Place a stitch marker at the start of each decrease round to track how many pull-through decreases have been worked.
- Slip stitch joins drifting off line Join into the very first stitch of the round each time, not a nearby one, to stop the rounds spiraling out of alignment.
